To Live an Examined Life
Therapist
Coming to therapy is a heroic step. Yet without a great therapist, one’s work toward healing may only go so far. As a clinician with over 15 years in the field, I grasp the process and how to guide one from anxiety and fear to curiosity and hope, then courage and competence.
Services
I have worked with patients from truly diverse backgrounds and in many settings, including a public high school, a non-profit counseling center and New York’s Bellevue Hospital. I keep a private practice in Studio City where I see patients virtually and in person.
Adults
Adults make up most of my patients. I work psychodynamically in a range of areas, including anxiety and depression, trauma and grief, bipolar and borderline, parenting and marital and premarital.
Adolescents
With one foot planted in youth and the other stepping into the “real world,” adolescents live in a complex and pivotal life stage. I have conducted in-depth work with adolescents of nearly all types.
Couples
A main wish for many couples is to resolve conflict. But this first requires connecting to one’s own feelings and then learning, often for the first time, to trust sharing these with another.
How I Work:
a Brief Note
I work psychodynamically. This means that in addition to talk therapy emphasis is placed on the relational aspects between patient and therapist. Through this exchange, in a setting free of judgment, deep insight is achieved. This provides the patient with a sensitive regard for self, and therefore toward others, and helps lead to prolonged optimal expression of oneself in the world. I am available for consult and referral.
