No Alcohol, No Regrets

There are now countless YouTube videos extolling the benefits of not consuming alcohol.

While I largely agree with what’s on offer a simple but profound benefit is overlooked: Eliminating alcohol helps rid us of regret.

Even without a blistering hangover, or hangxiety, alcohol affects our sleep patterns and makes us start our day in a less than optimal state.

A lack of clarity, notions of what if[1]What if I hadn’t drunk so much, if I’d gone to bed earlier, if I’d controlled my impulses and not said or done certain things, what if my mind were sharper now. and thus regret greet us and coat our initial mindset of the day.

The act of beginning is one of the most crucial things we can do. How we do it is equally important.

A day that starts with restedness and vigor and clarity is a day that starts without regret. Now that’s refreshing.
